Allwyn Sets Sights on Digital Growth with Seasoned iGaming Hire

Allwyn has taken a decisive step toward online expansion by introducing its new global digital division and appointing industry veteran Kresimir Spajic to lead the charge.

A new chapter for Allwyn

The company confirmed that Kresimir Spajic will serve as Chief Executive of Allwyn Digital, the freshly created arm designed to accelerate growth in iGaming, sportsbooks, and online products. He will officially begin on 1 September and will be based in Lucerne, reporting directly to Group CEO Robert Chvatal.

This move follows a broader strategy by Allwyn to strengthen its digital focus. The business has gradually reduced its traditional casino exposure while increasing its stake in operators with strong online presence. The new division will now bring lottery, gaming, and entertainment together under a single umbrella, aiming to give players a more connected digital experience.

Why Spajic and why now

Kresimir Spajic arrives with more than twenty years of experience in the gambling sector. He has held senior roles with major international operators, advised investment firms on gaming projects, and most recently served as the head of Betfred’s United States operations. His background combines leadership across regulated markets with deep knowledge of digital gaming, which makes him well suited to guide Allwyn through its next stage.

Robert Chvatal described this appointment as a transformative moment for the company and highlighted the importance of enhancing customer experience through digital products. Spajic echoed that vision, calling Allwyn Digital a natural step to bring together lottery and gaming in innovative ways that meet the demands of modern audiences.

Looking ahead

The establishment of Allwyn Digital shows the company’s ambition to move well beyond its roots in lottery operations. By creating a separate division with its own leadership, Allwyn is signaling that digital entertainment will be central to its future. Markets such as Europe and North America, where online growth continues to accelerate, are expected to be key areas of focus.
