Lottopar Joins Global Initiative Against Illicit Financial Operations

Brazil’s Paraná State Lottery, Lottopar, recently participated in an international course dedicated to combating illicit financial operations. The training event, organized by the Council for Financial Activities Control and the Latin American Financial Action Task Force, brought together regulators, compliance specialists, and gaming operators from across Latin America.

Lottopar was represented by Technical Director Rafael Halila Neves and Chief of Staff Pablo Wosniacki. Their participation highlighted the company’s commitment to strengthening its anti-money laundering and counter-terror financing policies. The course covered essential areas such as identifying suspicious financial patterns, implementing preventive systems, and mitigating the risks of financing illegal activities.

While much of the program focused on the lottery and gaming sectors, it also addressed other industries prone to exploitation, including real estate, accounting, and jewelry trading. These are collectively categorized as Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions, often targeted by criminal networks for money laundering schemes.

Strengthening Compliance in Brazil

Lottopar’s participation in the course adds to its growing reputation for leadership in compliance. Earlier this year, the organization earned international recognition for its preventive measures against financial crimes, marking a significant milestone for Brazilian lotteries.

This global training further reinforces that progress by enhancing cooperation among regulatory bodies and aligning Lottopar’s practices with international standards. As Brazil’s gaming market expands, initiatives like these play a crucial role in promoting transparency and protecting the industry from illicit activities.

By investing in continuous education and global collaboration, Lottopar demonstrates that compliance is not just a requirement but a responsibility essential for the long-term credibility and integrity of the gaming sector in Brazil.
