YGAM Appoints Emily Tofield as New Chief Executive

YGAM has named Emily Tofield as its new Chief Executive, marking a significant leadership change for the organisation as it continues its work in harm prevention and youth education. Tofield will take over the role in January, following Dr Jane Rigbye, who has led the charity since 2021.

A background shaped around public service and communication

Tofield joins YGAM with experience across government departments, charities and strategic communication roles. She has worked on public engagement programmes, policy initiatives and cross sector projects focused on safeguarding and community wellbeing. YGAM noted that her ability to unite teams around clear educational goals played a key role in the appointment.

In her upcoming role, Tofield will guide YGAM’s national education programmes, partnerships and long term strategy. She will also work closely with schools, universities, local authorities and community groups to maintain the charity’s focus on prevention and early support for young people.

A period of transition for the organization

The charity highlighted Dr Rigbye’s contribution to expanding YGAM’s training reach, strengthening accreditation standards and building wider recognition for its work. With Tofield stepping in, YGAM aims to maintain that momentum while exploring new ways to deliver its resources across the United Kingdom.

Tofield expressed enthusiasm about joining a charity with a clear social purpose and emphasised her commitment to reinforcing YGAM’s role in helping young people make informed choices.

The transition will be completed at the start of the new year, with YGAM preparing for another phase of development under Tofield’s leadership.
