Underdog and Sportradar Join Forces on Player Safety in U.S. Market

Underdog has become the first U.S. operator to adopt Bettor Sense, Sportradar’s AI powered tool for detecting risky gambling behaviors and intervening early. The partnership, announced on September 24, marks a serious push toward stronger player protection in U.S. sports gaming.

How It Works and What It Offers

Bettor Sense, launched in July 2025, tracks user behavior and assigns real time risk scores using behavioral modeling and machine learning. When it spots patterns that suggest problem play, it triggers personalized interventions or flags accounts for further review. To extend support beyond detection, the system links users at higher risk to Birches Health, a provider of evidence based treatment for gambling disorders.

Adam Warrington, Underdog’s Vice President of Responsible Gaming, called the integration another step in the company’s proactive approach to enhanced player protection. Jim Brown at Sportradar praised Underdog for combining detection with care.

Why This Matters

The agreement signals a shift in U.S. operator behavior. Technology is moving from compliance checkboxes toward continuous, active risk management. Underdog now stands out for being willing to tie its business model to stronger safeguards.

Of course, execution will matter. AI tools may reduce false positives, but they must also avoid stigmatizing cautious users. The link with clinical services is a smart move in that direction.

If this approach proves effective, it may ripple across other operators in the U.S., raising the bar for what responsible gaming really means.
